Dr. J. Scott Stancil
Dr. J. Scott Stancil is vastly experienced and knowledgeable in treating both medical and surgical pathologies of the lower extremities. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and a member, as well as, past Delegate for the American Podiatric Medical Society. He is a past President for the North Carolina Foot and Ankle Society. Recently, he was elected and appointed by the Governor to serve on the North Carolina Board of Podiatry Examiners. Dr. Stancil is heavily involved in limb salvage and treatment of diabetic lower extremity disorders, sports injuries as well as trauma. Contracted with the United States Naval Clinic at Marine Air Station Cherry Point for over 20 years, Dr. Stancil treats active duty servicemen, service women, retirees and their dependent families. Dr. Stancil received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, his Masters of Education from East Carolina University and earned his Doctorate of Medicine from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in 1996. He completed his general podiatric and surgical residency at the Sheehan Memorial Hospital in Buffalo, New York.
Dr. Amy Pitzer
Amy Pitzer, DPM, FACFAS, CWS, FAPWCA, FACCWS. Dr. Pitzer received extensive training in reconstructive surgery and trauma-related injuries, including both foot and ankle fractures. She treats sports related injuries in addition to other foot and ankle deformities. She is also well versed in the latest wound care techniques. She currently works in the Greenville office and is a podiatric surgical consultant for Vidant Medical Center. She worked at the Vidant Wound Healing Center in Greenville and in Ahoskie at the Outpatient Clinic at Roanoke Chowan Hospital, both for ten years. She also worked at Wayne Memorial Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina. She graduated from East Carolina University in 2000 with a dual degree in Biology and Chemistry. In 2005 she graduated from Des Moines University, College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. She completed her three-year surgical residency in disorders of the foot and ankle at St. John North Shores Hospital in Detroit, Michigan where she was awarded the Charles Pankratz Podiatric Surgical Scholarship. Dr. Pitzer is Board Certified in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. She is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. She is also a Certified Wound Specialist by the American Board of Wound Management and is a Fellow to both the American Professional Wound Care Association and the American College of Clinical Wound Specialists. She is a member of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine and the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care. She is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, Pitt County Medical Society, and the American Diabetic Association. She is currently the Vice President on the Board of the North Carolina Foot and Ankle Society and was the Chairman of the Winter Scientific Seminar for four years. She has given oral examinations for the North Carolina Board of Podiatric Examiners for the past three years and is on the Ethics and Grievance Committee. She was also appointed to the National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners. In 2019, Dr. Pitzer received the Eleanor Flowers Upton Award for Volunteer of the Year. Dr. Pitzer lives in Greenville with her husband and two sons.
Dr. Rick C. Chen
Dr. Rick C. Chen joined Family Foot and Ankle Physicians on August 1, 2012 after completing a three-year comprehensive foot and ankle surgical residency at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. In his final year of training, he served as the Section Chief Resident. While at Yale New Haven Hospital, Dr. Chen received extensive training in Charcot foot and flatfoot reconstruction utilizing the latest internal and Ilizarov/external fixation surgical techniques. He is well versed in various plastic surgical techniques in the treatment of chronic diabetic ulcers and trauma induced wounds. Dr. Chen is also trained in conservative and surgical management of trauma related foot and ankle injuries as well as many other foot and ankle ailments. Dr. Chen received his dual undergraduate degrees in Biological and Biomedical Engineering from North Carolina State University in 2004, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He earned his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 2009 and was the recipient of multiple American Podiatric Medical Association Education Foundation scholarships. Dr. Chen is a former competitive swimmer. In his spare time he enjoys playing basketball, cross training, and playing guitar. Dr. Chen is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and is board certified in foot surgery.
Dr. Aaron J. Leshikar
Dr. Aaron J. Leshikar joined our practice on July 1, 2017 after completing a three-year surgical residency at St. Vincent's Hospital, a level 1 trauma hospital, in Indianapolis, Indiana. While there he received extensive training in Charcot reconstruction, limb salvage and pediatric flatfoot reconstruction. He is well versed in the latest surgical techniques and also trained in conservative and surgical management of trauma related foot and ankle injuries as well as common foot and ankle conditions. Dr. Leshikar earned his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in 2014. Dr. Leshikar played college basketball and soccer and his understanding of athletic performance is certainly an asset in treating his patient/athletes. He is professionally interested in sports medicine, minimally invasive surgical techniques, total ankle replacements, wound care and diabetic education in the community with delivery of responsible healthcare. He is very family-oriented and lives with his wife and 5 children here in Greenville, NC.
Dr. Brian Jones
Family Foot and Ankle Physicians is proud to announce the addition of a new podiatric surgeon to our family July 1st, 2020. Dr. Brian Jones treats patients with all foot and ankle conditions, including wound care, nail irregularities, toe deformities, heel and joint pains, flatfeet, sports injuries, fractures, and complications from diabetes and peripheral vascular disease. He specializes in limb salvage procedures. Dr. Jones received his Bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina - Columbia in 2011, where he majored in Exercise Sciences with a concentration in Scientific Foundations. He then earned his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine 2017 in Miami, Florida. He completed his residency at Yale-New Haven Medical Center Foot and Ankle Surgery residency program in New Haven, Connecticut, where he completed comprehensive training specializing in foot and ankle reconstruction and limb salvage. He attended and presented at the Northeast Region Podiatric Complications Conference and underwent extensive training in arthroscopic procedures. The Yale Department of Podiatric Surgery presented Dr. Jones with the prestigious Residency Excellence Award for his outstanding performance during his second year of training and he served as section chief resident during his final year. Dr. Jones enjoys music, movies, and spending time with family and friends. He enjoys running when able, along with attending sporting events, comedy shows and is quite the dancer.
Dede, a Kinston native, joined the practice in 2016 with a thirty-two-year career in the medical office field with the last twenty-one years being in medical office administration. She studied Business Office Administration at Lenoir Community College, in addition to her many years of hands-on experience. She is proud to start her second career, here in Greenville, with the doctors and staff of Family Foot & Ankle Physicians. In her free time, she enjoys being with her family (two and four legged), traveling and the outdoors.
Tracy came to work at the practice as an Administrative Assistant in May of 2013. She received her Health Unit Coordinator certificate in 2007 at Lenoir Community College in Kinston. She was born and raised here in North Carolina. She is a mother of two, animal lover and outdoor enthusiast.
Shannon joined the practice in January 2017 as an Administrative Assistant. She is a graduate of NC State University and Pfeiffer University. Shannon is excited about having such a wonderful opportunity to use her education, skills and experience to be of service to our patients. She is proud to be a member of the Family Foot & Ankle Physicians team.
Denise joined Family Foot & Ankle Physicians as an Administrative Assistant in 2018 after a move from Brunswick, Georgia. In 2006 she earned her certification in the field of Medical Office Specialist and then in 2009 received her Associates Degree from Coastal Georgia Community College. Denise enjoys traveling with her family and also her HGTV and DIY hobbies.
Wanda has been with the practice since May of 2016. She joined our team after completing an internship and attaining an Associates Degree in Medical Office Administration from Pitt Community College. She is in charge of coordinating our insurance processing. She is a native of Martin County and currently resides in Greenville.
Amy began working with the practice in 2012 after completing an Associates Degree in Medical Assisting from Miller-Motte College. She also has received certification as a Podiatric Radiology Technician. Amy enjoys the interaction with patients and her co-workers. She likes to spend her free time with family and friends.
Ineshia has been a part of Family Foot & Ankle Physicians since 2013. She received her degree from Pitt Community College. She is a Certified Radiologic Technician in Podiatry and is certified in Padnet testing. She is a native of Martin County and currently resides in Greenville.
Amanda joined Family Foot & Ankle Physicians in 2017 after earning her Associates of Applied Science in Medical Assisting from Miller-Motte College. Amanda enjoys coming to work everyday with a big smile because she loves working to help patients feel better. Outside of work, she enjoys adventures with her husband and son. Amanda will always go out of her way to help her co-workers and patients the best she can.
“Q” joined our office in October of 2018. She earned her Associates of Applied Science in Medical Assisting from Miller-Motte College. She enjoys coming to work, seeing the patients and her co-workers. Outside of work, she enjoys taking trips with her family and friends and relaxing at home.
Tomie joined our practice in June 2017 after moving to Greenville. She is a native of Kansas and Oklahoma. She has been formally trained by Frank K. Galbraith, DPM of Wichita, Kansas with whom she assisted for 4 years. Tomie has also enjoyed 8 years in the Kansas Air National Guard before separating to enjoy time with her family. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband and their two dogs and cooking.
Amanda rejoined our practice in October of 2018. She received her Associates Degree of Applied Science in Medical Assisting in 2013. She is also certified in Padnet testing. She is a native of Pitt County and enjoys spending time with her family in her free time.
Josie is a native of Washington, NC. She received her Medical Assisting Certification from Beaufort County Community College in August of 2019. She enjoys working with and helping people of all ages. In her free time, she likes to hunt, fish and spend time with her family, friends and pets.
Jarred joined our practice March of 2019 after working a year and a half at Vidant Medical Center. He earned his Associates Degree in Nursing from Pitt Community College in 2017 and will be receiving his Bachelor of Science in Nursing in May 2019. Jarred is wound debridement certified and enjoys helping those in need. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, as well as, his church family.
