Amy Pitzer, DPM, FACFAS, CWS, FAPWCA, FACCWS. Dr. Pitzer received extensive training in reconstructive surgery and trauma-related injuries, including both foot and ankle fractures. She treats sports-related injuries in addition to other foot and ankle deformities. She is also well versed in the latest wound care techniques. She currently works in the Greenville office and is a podiatric surgical consultant for Vidant Medical Center. She worked at the Vidant Wound Healing Center in Greenville and in Ahoskie at the Outpatient Clinic at Roanoke Chowan Hospital, both for ten years. She also worked at Wayne Memorial Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina. She graduated from East Carolina University in 2000 with a dual degree in Biology and Chemistry. In 2005 she graduated from Des Moines University, College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. She completed her three-year surgical residency in disorders of the foot and ankle at St. John North Shores Hospital in Detroit, Michigan where she was awarded the Charles Pankratz Podiatric Surgical Scholarship. Dr. Pitzer is Board Certified in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. She is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. She is also a Certified Wound Specialist by the American Board of Wound Management and is a Fellow to both the American Professional Wound Care Association and the American College of Clinical Wound Specialists. She is a member of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine and the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care. She is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, Pitt County Medical Society, and the American Diabetic Association. She is currently the President on the Board of the North Carolina Foot and Ankle Society and was the Chairman of the Winter Scientific Seminar for four years. She has given oral examinations for the North Carolina Board of Podiatric Examiners for the past three years and is on the Ethics and Grievance Committee. She was also appointed to the National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners. In 2019, Dr. Pitzer received the Eleanor Flowers Upton Award for Volunteer of the Year. Dr. Pitzer lives in Greenville with her husband and two sons.
