Treatments

At Family Foot and Ankle Physicians, we offer a wide variety of foot and ankle care services. We truly pride ourselves on giving our patients personal attention to find solutions that best meet them and their foot and ankle issues.

From simple procedures, such as wart removal and ingrown toenail repair, to on-site minor surgery, routine foot care, diagnostic imaging, debridement, and more, we can treat and assist with all of your foot issues.

Debridement

Debridement is a medical procedure for treating a wound in the skin, of which we focus specifically in on the feet and ankle areas. It involves a thorough cleaning of the wound and removal of all thickened skin or callus, infected, and dead tissue, or foreign debris, and residual material from dressings.

Diabetic Foot Skin Graft

Open wounds on diabetic feet are a significant and often expensive problem to treat. While we have many different modalities for treating wounds, one treatment type stands out, skin grafts.

Diagnostic Imaging

From X-Rays, to ultrasounds, and doppler, we have all of the imaging techniques needed.

Durable Medical Equipment

Durable medical equipment or DME’s are assistive devices used by patients. In the podiatry setting those devices are walkers, ankle braces, splints, and walking boots. The devices help patients get back to daily functional activities.

Injections

We use injections with patients in two different ways. One is to inject a numbing agent that will put your nerves to sleep and prevent you from feeling pain. This will help our podiatrists perform an office procedure such as removing an infected toenail preventing a nerve from stinging to find the cause of pain. Second, injections are used to place a local steroid into an area of inflammation.

Limb Salvage / Amputation Prevention

Left untreated, chronic conditions such as diabetes and peripheral arterial disease increase your risk of infection and, ultimately, amputation. The professional podiatrists at Family Foot & Ankle Physicians specializes in limb preservation using a multi-disciplinary approach. If you regularly experience ulcers or slow-healing wounds, don’t hesitate to seek professional help for amputation prevention.

Nail Restoration

KeryFlex Nail Restoration is a painless, in-office application that restores the appearance of an individual’s natural nails. This system allows for a certified provider to remodel an individual’s damaged nails affected by fungus, defects, and trauma. The composite resin creates a flexible, but durable, non-porous nail that allows the remaining natural nail to grow. The KeryFlex nail is an immediate cosmetic improvement providing a natural-looking nail. It is unaffected by acetone, nail polishes, or detergents.

Orthotics

When you have foot pain or biomechanical issues in your feet, custom orthotics can help your feet feel and function better. At Family Foot & Ankle Physicians, the skilled podiatrists offer custom orthotics so your feet can feel comfortable again.

Routine Foot Care

Our routine care includes cleaning, trimming, cutting, and removal of toenails, callouses, and corns. Our routine foot care patients are often elderly or diabetic patients, but we can see anyone in need of routine foot care.

Surgeries

Surgery on the foot, ankle, or lower leg are performed by our team of podiatric surgeons. Many foot and ankle surgeries can be performed in our office. More serious surgeries are performed at Vidant Health’s surgical center or on the campus of a Vidant Health hospital.

Wound Care

Wounds and ulcers that will not heal can lead to serious complications. Getting proper treatment from our experienced podiatrists is critical. We use state-of-the-art tools, along with advanced techniques to provide you with the best possible solutions.
