Main duties to attend to the podiatrist include clinical days (M,W,F), patient care in clinic, and preoperative care for surgery patients (health history forms, scheduling with ECU Health and post op follow-up care). In addition, we are looking for a problem solver and can create a positive environment for a cohesive team. We are looking for someone who posse’s great patient satisfaction skills, attendance is reliable and has no history of poor work performance due to attendance and the ability to work with a team to help aid in patient care.

Experience: Preferred 15 years as Medical Assistant; 3 years as a Manager (6 years of lead can be substituted for some management experience)
License: Certified Medical Assistant, BLS (CPR)

Administrative Duties
- Managing office telephone systems, including answering calls and returning messages
- Scheduling patient appointments and maintaining communication to confirm future appointments.
- Documenting patients’ medical information, including medical history and health insurance information.
- Performing data entry tasks to document patient records within facility databases and maintaining patient files.
- Coordinating daily office activities, greeting patients, and checking patients in and out for their appointments
- Performs thorough preoperative patient assessment required for outpatient surgery.
- Must lead a team of 8 or more medical assistance for 5 providers.
- Responsible for all administrative tasks assigned by the provider. Must be efficient to delegate some tasks and responsible for completion of overall team goals.
- Recruit, orientate and train all new team members with a thorough training regimen that you will create.
- Screen and onboard volunteers and interns. Create relationships with local educators to obtain internships.
- Audit and monitor the skill sets of the medical assistants, processes and completing process improvement as identified in the audits and monitoring.
- Oversee all HIPAA and OSHA activities with the assigned officers.
- Proficient at EHR systems used (AdvancedMD, EPIC, etc) and train team members on all changes in systems.
- Create and manage the monthly staff schedule and approve timesheets bi-weekly. Be the first person on call for team member call outs and manage their attendance performance.
- Responsible for any corrective action for team members.
- Plan and deliver objectives, training and discussion in staff meetings.
- Provide end of month reports to administrator based on clinical statistics.
- All other duties as assigned.
Clinical Duties
- Recording patients’ vital signs, documenting physicians’ notes and changes in medical conditions.
- Proficient at drawing blood and lipid samples and submitting for laboratory analysis.
- Taking tissue and fluid samples and submitting for laboratory analysis.
- Performing routine care to podiatric patients, such as toenail clipping, wound care, x-ray views, injections, casting.
- Highly proficient at dictation and note documentation with excellent typing skills.
- Providing compassionate patient support and care, attention, and assistance during office visits.
- Manage all medical assistants on the tasks listed here.
- All other duties as assigned.
Monthly Schedule Potential
- Monday: 7:15- TBD: Provider is in surgery most mornings. Afternoons consist of rounding (1:00) at ECU Health with provider. In the event the provider is in surgery through lunch, rounds may not begin until late afternoon. Estimated 4-5 hours of rounding. Physical requirements to meet walking the hospital facilities for that period of time.
- Tuesday/Thursday: 7:30 – 5:00. The provider is not in the office on these days, allowing you to manage the team, complete notes, surgery scheduling, medical records and miscellaneous for the provider you lead. One of these will allow for at least one-half day off a week and possibly a full day.
- Wednesday: 7:15 – 6:00. Provider is in clinic and you will work the clinic with an assistant MA. Quarterly you will visit a nursing home with the provider to perform routine foot care for patients.
- Friday: 7:15-6:00. Provider is in clinic, unless the provider was on call the previous weekend then is off and you will be off. In the event of on call on a Friday, then rounding at ECU Health from 1:00-600 or until completed.
- Saturday: 7:15-TBD: When the provider is on call once a month, you work the clinic at the office from 8-12pm. Then you move over to ECU Health for Rounding until completed.
- Sunday: TBD: Work during the on call weekend once a month. The provider chooses the time to round (3-5 hours).
